D.I.Y Ginger & Grapefruit Tea

I don’t know about you, but when I’m about to catch a cold, I can feel it. My body starts to ache and I get fatigued. When I was younger, I would just let myself get sick. Now, I drink a delicious warm tea that builds up my immune system and helps me fight the nasty cold/flu virus.

Try it!!! 


  • 2 tbsp shredded Ginger
  • 1/2 Grapefruit
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 Tsp Honey (or more, depending on your taste)


  1. Boil water in a kettle. Meanwhile, shred the ginger using a shredder or food processor. 
  2. Add the ginger to the hot water, let it sit. Squeeze lemon juice & grapefruit juice into the tea. Add Honey. 
  3. Remember to stir and drink when it’s safe! 

Now, this is a very simple and nutritious. Grapefruit contains Potassium, it’s high in fiber and it is antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory. It also contains high levels of Vitamin C. All of these properties help in boosting your immune system and fighting the common cold and even the Flu. Ginger has been used for thousands of years as a medicinal remedy for the common cold/flu. It is a natural antiviral, and is known to kill the common cold. It acts as a decongestant and relieves sore throats due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties (immune system booster). It’s also a natural pain & fever reducer, as well as perspiration stimulant (sweat it out). Lemon juice helps reduce the strength of the cold virus. It also acts as a decongestant, it is both antibacterial and antiviral. & Honey is antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-fungal. It helps with coughing and sore throats, and best of all it boost your immune system (it’s great for building and cleansing your digestive system, and your digestive system plays a HUGE role in a healthy you). These are just the basic benefits of all the ingredients.

All of these combined are SUPER foods! If consumed daily or weekly, it will increase your overall health. I tend to drink this combination at least 3 times a week, if I can’t, then I simply drink ginger and lemon tea. Ever since I started doing this, I have not had a cold or a long-lasting one. When I do have a cold, I drink the tea 3 times a day.

There are many herbal teas out there to help your cold/flu symptoms. In my opinion they are all great and provide similar benefits. & once you are actually sick, these teas can help you feel better a lot faster than not taking them at all.

So whether you use them to prevent a cold or to treat it, keep drinking! You will feel better, I promise!
