DIY COFFEE MASK

Coffee, the aroma of bliss! A nutrient rich bean that blesses us with benefits and the ultimate morning “pick me up”! We drink coffee for many reasons, but one of the main ones is to wake up. So why not wake up your skin with a coffee mask?

Coffee has plenty of benefits to our skin, that’s why it has become a beauty sensation. More products are being sold containing coffee extract or coffee grounds, because it’s awesome! I’m not a big coffee drinker, (more into tea, hence the name of this blog!) but when I read about the effects of coffee as a beauty mask/scrub, I wanted to try it! I’ve tried several coffee mask/scrub recipes not only for my face but also for my body and below are a few of my favorite!

Benefits: Coffee increases the production of Collagen & Elastin, which means it’s great for anti-aging purposes (the caffeine minimizes the appearance of fine lines). It protects against free radicals that cause aging, as well as protects the skin from sun damage and pollutants (rich in anti-oxidants, woohoo!). The caffeine helps reduce puffiness, so that under eye puff is gone! Plus, it stimulates blood flow to your face, helps tighten skin, calm irritated/red skin, and brighten.


Coffee & Coconut Oil Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • ½ tbsp. Coconut Oil (melt the oil before using on low heat)
  • ½ tbsp. Ground Coffee Beans

Directions: Mix these two simple ingredients together. Apply to your face for 15 to 30 mins (even up to an hour) then rinse.

Make sure to use cold pressed, unrefined coconut oil for the best results. Coconut oil is a gift in disguise, it’s not only great for cooking but a beauty favorite. It suites all skin types, so whether you have oily, dry, combo, acne prone skin, its benefits help us all! It’s anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, a great moisturizer and so much more.

Coffee Cinnamon Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. Ground Coffee Beans
  • 1 tbsp. Honey
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon

Directions: Mix all ingredients together, apply to face for about 20 mins and rinse.

Honey, as we all know, is one of the best natural remedies in this world. It shares similar benefits to coconut oil in the previous recipe. It’s anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, heals the skin, moisturizes and much more. Cinnamon is a great way to soothe dry skin and heal wounds.

Coffee Lemon Mask (Great for oily skin)

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. Ground Coffee Beans
  • 1 tsp. Honey
  • 1 tbsp. Lemon Juice

Directions: Mix all ingredients, apply to face for 20 to 30 mins and rinse.

Lemon is another beauty favorite. It helps with blackheads and it treats acne (anti-bacterial). They brighten skin, helping get rid of dark spots and blemishes, plus much more!

Coffee Mask for Puffy Eyes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Egg White
  • 2 tsp Ground Coffee

Directions: Mix well and apply to the under-eye area carefully. Leave on for 10 mins and then rinse.

The caffeine will help reduce blood flow to your under-eye area and diminish swelling. The egg white has astringent properties, it helps tighten skin and lifts skin.

Here are some other mixtures I use:

  • Coffee & Honey Mask
  • Coffee & Olive Oil Mask (you can also use Grape-seed oil, almond oil or coconut oil)
